Introductie tot het ON0RCL Echolink-systeem

Echolink doet dit door gebruik te maken van VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologie:

• computer naar computer
• radio naar computer / computer naar radio
• radio naar lokale repeater en verder naar de verre repeater
• computer naar een verre repeater

 Echolink kan gebruikt worden zonder radio-apparatuur door gebruik te maken van een desktop- of laptop-computer, of kan gebruikt worden met een radio, bijvoorbeeld mobiel.
Uw computer moet beschikken over een geluidskaart, een microfoon en luidsprekers. De software is gratis en exclusief beschikbaar voor gelicencieerde radioamateurs. Een bewijs van gelicencieerd zijn is nodig voor de registratie. Het programma is klein en zeer gebruiksvriendelijk.

Na de installatie van de Echolink-software krijgt iedere operator automatisch een uniek node-nummer toegewezen. Om het node-nummer van een ander station te vinden moet je de muiscursor over de call van het betreffende station plaatsen en het nummer wordt weergegeven. Dit kan handig zijn als je mobiel in het bereik bent van een Echolink-repeater zoals onze ON0RCL en je een verbinding wil maken met een specifiek station.

Als je een verbinding wil maken met een node op het Echolink-netwerk van binnen het bereik van ON0RCL kan je volgende procedure gebruiken. Let wel op deze procedure is specifiek voor de opstelling van ON0RCL en kan bij andere repeaters verschillen.

 Echolink enables links using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology

• computer to computer
• Radio to computer / computer to Radio
• Radio to local repeater and onto a distant repeater
• Computer to distant repeater 

Echolink can be used without any radio equipment simply by the use of a desktop computer or a lap top, or can be used with your radio while mobile. Your computer/Lap Top must have a sound card, a microphone and speakers. The software is free and exclusively available to licensed amateur radio operators. Proof of license may be required. The program is small and most user intuitive.  

On installation of the Echolink software each operator is automatically allocated a unique node number. To find a number of anther station or repeater, simply place your cursor over the call sign of your choice on your computer screen and the number is displayed. This is useful if you happen to be mobile within the footprint of an Echolink repeater such as ours ON0RCL and you want to connect to a specific call.

If you want to connect to a node elsewhere on the Echolink network whilst you are mobile within the ON0RCL repeater coverage area, the procedure for connecting and disconnecting to our repeater is as follows. Please note that this procedure is for ON0RCL repeater set-up and is not necessarily the same for any others:  

Een verbinding maken

ON0RCL is verbonden met het Echolink-netwerk. ON0RCL's Echolink-computer luistert op de output-frequentie naar een specifieke DTMF-toontjes. Als de juiste tonen onvangen worden zal Echolink de overeenkomstige actie ondernemen.

• Vorm het node nummer van het station dat je wil contacteren. Het Echolinksysteem zal het nodenummer teruglezen. Als het station dat je wil bereiken niet in de lucht is dan zal een stem zeggen : “The station you are trying to connect is not found”. Als het station wel in de lucht is hoor je : “ON0RCL connected”.

 Als het nodenummer waarmee je probeert te verbinden een verre repeater is, in tegenstelling tot een andere radioamateur, dan zal deze repeater vaak een welkomstbericht hebben en misschien wat bijkomende instructies geven. In sommige gevallen zal je onmiddelijk verbonden zijn. Roep CQ voor een gekend station.

DOOR DE AFSTANDEN TUSSEN DE VERSCHILLENDE LINKS EN DE VERTRAGINGEN OP INTERNET IS HET MOGELIJK DAT ER WAT VERTRAGING OPTREED. VERGEET NIET DE NODIGE RUIMTE TE LATEN TUSSEN DOORGANGEN, ZODAT DE VERRE PTT KAN ACTIVEREN OF AFVALLEN.

Om jezelf wat vertrouwd te maken met Echolink kan je proberen een verbinding te maken met de Echolink Test Server; node nummer 9999, en volg dan de instructies. Vergeet niet de verbinding met de server te verbreken, als je klaar bent, met een #

De verbinding verbreken

• Druk één maal # om de verbinding te verbreken als je maar met 1 station verbonden bent.
• Druk twéé maal # om de verbinding met alle stations te verbreken.

Connecting while mobile

ON0RCL has a connection to the Echolink network. ON0RCL’s Echolink computer is listening on the output frequency of the repeater for a series of specific DTMF tones. On receiving the appropriate DTMF tones Echolink will initiate the corresponding action.  

• On your DTMF pad enter the required node number. The Echolink system will confirm the node number entered. If the station that you are trying to connect is not on the air, you will hear an automated voice say: “The station you are trying to connect is not found”. If the station is on the air then you will hear an automated voice say “ON0RCL connected”.  

If the node number you are connecting to is a remote repeater as opposed to another radio operator the remote repeater will often have a welcoming message and maybe some simple instructions. In some cases you will be directly connected without any preamble. Call CQ or a specific known station.  

DUE TO THE DISTANCES INVOLVED AND THE LINKS BETWEEN RADIO AND INTERNET PLEASE REMEMBER TO LEAVE ADEQUATE DELAY BETWEEN OVERS TO ALLOW REMOTE PTT TO ACTIVATE OR DROP.  

To familiarize yourself with Echolink try connecting to the Echolink Test Server, node number 9999, and follow the instructions. Remember to disconnect from the server when you finish by entering DTMF code #.

Disconnecting

•  On your DTMF pad press # once if you are connected to just one other station.
• On your DTMF pad press ## twice to disconnect from all stations
